Reports of experience from the City Wels (Upper Austria)

He has been using Bio-Aktiv-Powder since May 16th,1995, 500 g per week, time spent: 20 minutes per week. „The suspended layers dissolve, everything flows smoothly, the cesspool does not have to be stirred any more, bad smell has been reduced and is no problem any longer. We found out that liquid manure contains living organisms, and bubbles are rising. We are pouring the solution (Bio-Aktiv-Powder + water) into the liquid waste drain and even over the pigs. The animals feel very well. We highly recommend Bio-Aktiv-Powder to every farmer. In comparison with other products it's rather cheap.“

Mr. Fuerlinger told us the following adventure after using Bio-Aktiv-Powder: For emptying the liquid manure tank he put the suction pipe into the liquid manure tank with all his strength as he had always done and the pipe nearly fell into the smooth, liquid manure. Mr. Fuerlinger had expected a layer thick nearly 75 cm as it usually was and which was very difficult to push through. But for the first time the manure was homogeneous, smooth and liquid. I have seen the manure myself. It was liquid, smooth and of natural smell. Mr. Fuerlinger has got a farm with 80 brood - sows 3 boars and a lot of young cattle.

BIO-AKTIV-POWDER in liquid manure is economical

We cant refuse tile argument totally, ammonia gas is harmful and is set free in great quantity in our plants. We don't want that as well as the ecological people but there are simply no catalysts for our animals' waste gases. Besides we lose valuable nitrogen together with the ammonia gas which misses in the quality of fertilizing of our liquid manure, that means 400g of pure nitrogene. Also methane and laughing gas, damaging the Ozone layer of our earth and frightening us by that as well as all other people - develop in the liquid manure.

What has to be done - what can we do - what can we afford financially without making us completely and totally unprofitable.

People demand simply to cover the liquid manure bassins. You should think this demand to be well thought over but is it really? Roofing over solidly is mostly not possible because of the size of the bassins, that demand a technically difficult construction and the resulting high costs. Covers consisting of floating - or stretching foils, it's true they are not so expensive, but they have great disadvantages. On the one hand they are useless - even by treating them carefully - already after a few years an must be disposed. Snow and rain are lying on top and mix with the liquid manure and, and, and... Everybody knows that except those who pass their laws on us.

On doing that the ammonia gas and the other damaging gases are only „closed in“ by covers. By bringing out the liquid manure the gas is nevertheless set free and comes into the atmosphere and herewith also into the noses of our fellow men. It's true that bringing it out near the ground helps against it - although not completely - but that will be expensive, expensive, expensive again and we have to operate economically. People are also not afraid of postulating as for example in the Westfalen Newspaper of February 16th 1995 that we are the main causers of the dying of the forests more than road traffic and that we, the farmers, believe in „being victims instead of being culprits“ (quotation). May that be so or not there is something in that and we must do something against that whether we like it or not.

Now a light at the end of the tunnel of our evaluations of economic efficiency is showing.

Last year a small firm in Germany developed BIO-AKTIV-POWDER and put it an the market. Up to now it has been used in about 50 member businesses of the association and the results are sensationally good. That concerns a pure nature product - chalk powder - which was worked on by oxygen and promotes the growing of the bacteria responsible for rotting in liquid manure, while the harmful rotting bacteria are decreasing at the same time. And this causes the strangest things:

First you realize that the strong smell in the stable improves considerably. Especially the development of ammonia decreases towards zero within a few das. By that the pH-value of the liquid manure, otherwise being basic, is reduced to the neutral value. During the rotting process the aerobe bacteria secrete small quantities of carbon dioxide (CO2).

The solid materil deposits are foanlily loosened by the gas bubbles add begin to be mixed with the liquid manure. This improves the ability of flowing and homogenizes the liquid manure. It allows to be pumped off mostly without or only a little bit stirring. The fly maggots can't exist any longer. Herewith the trouble of flies in the stable and in the surroundings is reduced at once. On talking out the liquid manure people noticed nearly no strong smell any more. The exhaust air of the stables is not noticed so disagreeably any more by the surroundings and the containers of the liquid manure lose their penetrant smell, a fact that is appreciated especially by the local residents. Moreover avoiding the development of ammonia causes a remaining of valuable nitrogen as an ammonia combination in the liquid manure Which therefore contains 400 g more nitrogen disposable for plants than the untreated liquid manure. This is of considerable consequence concerning the strong price - rises far nitrogen - fertilizer this year - about a plus of 40 DM/m3 of liquid manure. Many businesses could save 1000 DM easily with liquid manure.

It is also remarkable that the frightening liquid manure-shock in the growth or plants has not been noticed up to now with liquid manure treated with BIO-ATIV-POWDER. So the college Turnier in Badrina took out his liquid manure on red clover add white clover in the early stage. In the following weeks he even watched a remarkably improved growing. Earthworms and other useful smaller animals too, have not been damaged at all. Fertilizing from the top of young maize didn't harm either but has caused better results.

The usage of the product is simple. Depending on the consistency of tile suspended layers you have to inject only once 1-2 kg of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER (per 100 m3 of liquid manure) - dissolved in water - under the surface. In the stable a thin sludge is sprayed over the grated floor either With the help of a watering can or with a special spray technique. On doing so the animals may remain inside, the product is completely unpoisonous. The air in the stable improves at once, within a few days the ability of flowing is strongly improved also with cattle liquid manure. If the using happens in the stable a treatment of the containers is not necessary any more. The liquid manure doesn't smell strong any more and mostly remains liquid/homogeneous until being pumped off without or nearly without stirring.

The price is very low compared to other liquid manure additives, one kg of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER costs 40 DM and is enough for 100 m3 of liquid manure. Higher quantities are reduced up to 15 %.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

we have been using BIO-AKTIV-POWDER in our breeding plant since March 1995, by mixing it into the fodder of the pigs.

We produce our own mixture of fodder and it is then rough-grinded by a service firm (DUEHAG). For 2 tons of fodder we add about 150g of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER.

From a trailer, consisting of four rooms (containing 2 tons each), the fodder is blown into a fodder silo with the help of a diesel generator. The pigs in Kyhna are fed with :he help of a fodder-distributing carriage.

We noticed that the climate in the pigsty of Kyhna has improved considerably. In Kyhna are 2 raising and fattening pigsties with room for 1000 animals each. The pigs are standing on cast-iron, grated floors.

The liquid manure flows through liquid manure channels into concrete liquid manure containers. From there the liquid manure is pumped into the big liquid manure silo. Tile liquid manure silo has a storage capacity of about 2000 m2. When the liquid manure was brought out in May 1995 we noticed that the strong smell had been reduced to a minimum. There were no problems concerning solidity. When the liquid manure was brought out in August 1995 the swimming layers in the silo had nearly dissolved. Our stirring tool was only switched on when the liquid manure was brought out. Before the use of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER, a swimming layer, thick more than 1 m, had formed and even after stirring for many days the swimming layer could not be dissolved completely.

The use of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER, added to the fodder, shows:

  1. the liquid manure has become more fluent
  2. the bad smell has been reduced to a minimum
  3. the air in the pigsties has improved

Therefore we'll continue adding BIO-ACTIVE-POWDER to the fodder.

Report based on experience about piglet raising near Turnier in Badrina

The piglet raising business Badrina puts into stable baby piglets having a weight from 8 to 10 kg and hands them over as a runner with a weight from 28 to 30 kg to the mass business. The average stock is about 3000 piglets on partly grated floor.

Since May 1994 the BIO-AKTIV-POWDER has been used continuously in the stables.

Obtained additional receipts by using the same amount of fodder (6071 animals x 20 kg x 3.50 DM/kg) can be calculated easily.

The year 1994 was fully calculated by me, the use of BIO-AKTIV-POWDER didn't happen until May 1994. Therefore the numbers mentioned for 1993 have to be seen in relative terms.

The animal stock has highly improved in quality in the average stock.

Leavings: Leavings are losses, sick animals which have to be slaughtered and sales of sucking pig. The latter were about equal in both years.
