Holon is a very important for our work. It was coined by Arthur Koestler in the fifties. It means almost the same as systems but there is one big difference. Systems and holon both consist of unit which have one organisation. A system can be thought to be closed in itself, i.e. independent of its environment. But a holon is always envisioned as being embedded in its surrounding. As human beings we consider ourselves very often of being independent system being separated from nature rather than realising that we are holons embedded in nature. So what ever happens to nature happens to ourselves.
For a treatment we always to have find a natural whole which is treatable. We call such a whole holon. (See under step 8)
