6.4. Treatment of the "Elberfelder Hütte" near Winterberg (D)

6.4.1. Soil life

The Zoological Institute of Frankfurt University headed by Prof. Dr. B.Streit carried out an investigation to take stock of the soil animals in autumn 1987 with the object of determining an increase in density of soil animals after treatment by resonance therapy.

The experiment was carried out on the area of the "Elberfelder Hütte" near Winterberg. The test area was in an appr. 80-years- old spruce forest.

Samples were taken on December 7, 1987. A total of 36 samples were removed: 18 from the treated area and 9 from each of the two adjacent untreated sides. The soil samples were extracted into a Berlese apparatus. The animals were driven downwards into a liquid where they could be collected.

Results

The results are summarized in Fig. 1.

Report from the Zoological Institute of Frankfurt University, Prof. Dr.B.Streit, Feb. 1988

The adaption test (chi-squared) indicates, with a probibility error of <0.05, a significantly larger abundance of soil animals in the treated area.

The distribution of the soil sample weights was examined with the U-test. The treated area significantly shows (p<0.01) the heavier samples. As a result, there is s shift in the ratio of straw to humus in the treated area. This means that the number of animals per sample in the treated area has possibly been underestimated, in other words the abundance of animals in the treated area could even be higher.
